AMWS2: Rolling bearing reliability and failure analysis – identifying, understanding and addressing common damage modes

Darren Kenworthy, Engineering Manager, SKF

The workshop explores mechanisms for failure of rolling element bearings, which are often not correctly identified and therefore not effectively mitigated.

Discussion of how and why rolling bearing damage occurs, with guidance on ways to conduct failure analysis and investigations will be included.

ISO damage classifications will be discussed and elaborated.

In-depth explanation of two commonly misunderstood damage phenomena, their causes, and advice for potential countermeasures, will be given.
