An interactive tutorial on detecting and correcting shaft misalignment

Description

Most people believe that if the 2X vibration increases you have misalignment. That is why misalignment is often misdiagnosed. This presentation will explain how to confidently diagnose misalignment using spectra and phase. Next, we will discuss how to correct misalignment using a shaft laser alignment system. Using a series of animations, the basic process of measuring the misalignment, performing a rough alignment, checking and correcting soft foot, and dealing with a bolt bound and base bound situation will be explained.

Jason Tranter is the founder and Managing Director of Mobius Institute.  Jason is the author of the majority of the Mobius Institute training courses and e-learning products covering reliability improvement, condition monitoring and precision maintenance topics.  Titles include iLearnReliability, iLearnVibration, iLearnAlignment, and iLearnBalancing.  Vibration analysis classroom and distance learning courses follow ISO 18436-2 Category I – IV.
